In the early days of his long and rewarding career Nabil Totah appeared at:
- The original Birdland with Johnny Smith, Harry Edison, Stan Getz and Bobby Scott
- The Composer with Cy Coleman and George Wallington.
He was also seen regularly at the Half Note, went on tour with Al Cohn and Zoot Sims, and had a twenty-year alliance with the Gene Krupa Quartet.
